About the Association
The National Association of Women with Breast Diseases (later renamed the National Association of Breast Diseases) was established in 1999 by agreement of representatives of organizations of women with breast diseases.
The founders of the association: Kaunas County Women’s Health Association “ALMA”, Šiauliai City Association of Women’s Breast Pathology “SALVIA” and the Society of Women with Breast Diseases “VIKTORIJA”.
The National Breast Cancer Association strives to achieve the highest goals in improving breast cancer prevention, access to innovative treatments, and quality of life for women.
Participation
Actively participates in activities, initiatives, campaigns of other organisations or companies working for women with breast cancer.
Collaboration
Collaborates with specialists from Lithuanian oncology service providers in order to offer the most effective support for patients.
Quality
Aims to maximise access to high quality and effective breast cancer prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation services in Lithuania.
Promotion of activities
Supports and encourages the participation of patients in various leisure activities to maximise their social participation, improve their skills and competences and reduce social exclusion.
Education
Together with partners, the Association organises conferences and other events on topical issues related to breast cancer prevention, diagnosis, treatment, healthy lifestyles and improving the quality of life of breast cancer patients.
“Europa Donna”
In order to achieve the best Association’s goals and objectives the Association continues to actively engage with the European Breast Cancer Coalition “Europa Donna”.
Social projects
Developing social assistance and integration, designing and implementing social projects, participating in partner projects, considering the needs of breast cancer patients.
Rehabilitation
Provides information on rehabilitation and social support services to improve the general health of patients.
Latest treatment methods
The Association ctively publice activities on breast cancer, prevention, latest treatment methods and measures to improve the quality of life of breast cancer patients.
Health Policy
Participates in the development of the health policy of the Ministry of Health, considering the needs of women with breast cancer.
Information
The Association disseminates information about the activities of the Association and its partners related to breast cancer issues.
About
Carrying out its activities, the Association represents and defends the interests of Lithuanian women with or without breast cancer and their families.
Lithuania offers a national breast cancer screening program for all women aged 45–74, who are invited for a free mammogram once every 2 years.
